Thank you to all of our makers, exhibitors, sponsors, volunteers, and attendees for a great 2016 Nashville Mini Maker Faire! See you in 2017!

Not Finished? No Problem!

2014-10-03 03.47.21
Our Call for Makers has been extended to August 20, 2016! But what if your cool project isn’t done yet? That’s okay, and here’s why…

Making is a process, a journey, if you will, and along that journey you learn things. Maybe you learn a new skill, or you learn why you should have used screws instead of nails, or why hot glue wasn’t the best choice. All of these little details of a project create an experience, and the experience is something you can share at Maker Faire.

Maybe you’ve been working on a project for years, and it’s still not done. Showing it to people, and talking through it may give you new ideas, or the boost of energy you need to complete the project. (Maybe you’ll complete it by next year and bring it back as a finished project!)

Above all, what we’re looking for is people who will come to Maker Faire and share. Share their projects (finished or not) but also share their knowledge, what they learned along the way. Just showing what you’ve got so far can be inspiring to someone who hasn’t even started a project yet.

Don’t wait! Submit your project, finished or not, to the Call for Makers today!

Save The Date – 9/17/2016

Today we had a great kick off meeting for the 2016 Nashville Mini Maker Faire. This year’s event is going to be the best yet! The planning committee met at the Adventure Science Center and set the date for this year’s faire:

Empty your closets!

Bring any clothing you’d like to give away, swap, fix, or improve to the Nashville Mini Maker Faire on September 12.  Turnip Green will be hosting a Swap-O-Rama-Rama clothing and fabric play event.Swap-O-Rama-Rama T-Shirt

Swap-O-Rama-Rama is a model for textile repurposing: a clothing swap and do-it-yourself workshops that explore creative reuse through the recycling of used clothing.

Here is some more information about Swap-O-Rama-Rama:  SORR Website

To participate, come to the Nashville Mini Maker Faire (tickets can be purchased here) and

Contribute – When you attend the swap bring at least one bag of your unwanted clothing and a small donation (any amount accepted). Every swap begins with a giant collective pile of clothing, the unwanted clothing of all who attend. Everyone is welcome to dive in and find their next new/used items from the pile. Take as little or as much clothing from this pile as you like, it’s all free.

There will be folks available to help with a fixing clinic, demonstrations on tips and techniques, and opportunities to learn and play with fabric and clothing.

Feel free to bring your own sewing equipment and supplies — some will be available but more is always helpful and welcome.

Have fun and see you at the Faire!
